Round 1 report – Manor Farm Lake

Round 1 was fished on Manor Farm Lake on what proved to be one of the wettest weekends of the year. Despite the rain, some great fish were caught. Within a couple hours of lines in, we had a call to report that the first fish of the competition had been landed, a stunning common of 33 lb 12 oz by the team of Zsolt and Istvan Bardi.

The fish had only just been released when we received a call from the team of Mark Hall and Michael Lawrence that they had something special in their net, this turned out to be magnificent 40 lb 8 oz mirror, the first ever 40 pounder from the Biggun Carp Cup.

After this the bites dried out for the rest of the day and it was around 6 am the next morning that we received a wake up call with fish in the net. The Bardi team had added to their score with a double run resulting in a low double and an upper 20 in the net. Tomi Tatu and Istvan Steierlein also got on the score board with a 24 lb 2 oz carp. These would be the only fish caught on day 2 but a great day was still to be had. The sun come out and everyone reeled in for lunch and a casting competition on the field. After this everyone returned to their swims to bait up and maybe switch tactics for the night ahead.

The final morning saw 2 more fish landed, Tomi and Itsvan added 25 lbs 4 oz to their score whilst the team of Will Wilson and Lewis Brown opened their account with a 29 lb 15 oz common.
Soon it was time to reel in, a total of 7 carp were landed (and a few lost) during the match and a great time was by all. After Round 1 the results are as follows:

1st – Zsolt & Istvan Bardi – 3 fish for 73 lb 7 oz

2nd – Tomi Tatu & Istvan Steierlein – 2 fish for 49 lb 6 oz

3rd – Mark Hall & Michael Lawrence – 1 fish for 40 lb 8 oz

4th – Will Wilson & Lewis Brown – 1 fish for 29 lb 15 oz
